A meteorite fell in a house in New Jersey America reached the bedroom

In a house in Hopewell, New Jersey, USA, sky metal fell in the past. The grapefruit-sized piece of metal fell on the roof of the house and pierced through to the bedroom. According to a report, the local police believe that the object could be a meteorite. The Eta Aquarids meteor shower was at its peak in the area last weekend. It is believed that because of that a meteorite managed to reach the earth.

Business Insider told It is believed that the possible meteorite fell on the roof of the house at around 1:15 pm local time. There was nobody there then. The police believe that it is a meteorite. It is damaged due to hitting the floor. The local fire department confirmed that the item was not dangerous.

Police contacted a scientist from New Jersey to investigate the possible meteorite. Chief James Rosso of the Hopewell Township Police Department told Business Insider that he has seen many interesting phenomena in his career, but never thought he would one day see a meteorite.

The weight of the rocky piece is said to be around 1.8 kg. Whenever a meteorite enters the Earth’s atmosphere, it burns up due to friction and high temperature. Sometimes meteors do not burn completely and such pieces reach the earth. These are called meteorites. Meteorites hitting buildings or people is a rare occurrence. According to scientists, the meteorite that fell at home could be 4 to 5 billion years old. Significantly, in many months of the year, meteor showers are visible from the earth. Most meteors burn up completely in the Earth’s atmosphere. Those meteors which do not burn completely, their remaining part falls on the earth.
