In an office memorandum issued by AIIMS director, M Srinivas Said “Good strength of 5G mobile network in AIIMS campus to make optimum use of modern communication technology in patient care, teaching, research and good governance as per current trends and to introduce Integrated Medical University Information System (IMUIS) in AIIMS campus” This will enable better mobile and data connectivity inside buildings.” The head of this committee will be Vivek Tandon of Neurosurgery Department of AIIMS.
Strong 5G connectivity will also help AIIMS to implement eICU solutions in its main and other campuses. AIIMS administrative officials said that around 50,000 people visit AIIMS every day and good mobile connectivity is essential. There are some places in AIIMS which have zero or very poor mobile connectivity. This causes inconvenience to patients, staff and visitors. Also there is limited 3G/4G data connectivity in most places and very little 5G connectivity inside buildings.
The country’s largest telecom company Reliance Jio has expanded the scope of its high-speed 5G services to 27 cities in 13 states and union territories. With this, the company’s 5G network has reached 331 cities. The company plans to extend these services across the country by the end of this year. Bharti Airtel has crossed the mark of more than 1 million 5G subscribers in Mumbai. The company has more than one crore users of 5G across the country. Airtel aims to provide this service to every city and important rural areas of the country by the end of March next year. The company had said, “Airtel was the first company to launch 5G service in the country and Mumbai was among the first eight cities with ultra-fast Airtel 5G Plus service. The company’s 5G network is available in more than 140 cities in the country.”
