Airtel’s move will benefit around 8 crore prepaid users

Airtel has announced to extend the validity of its ‘low income’ prepaid customers plan till April 17. After this announcement, customers will be able to use their Airtel number even after the validity of the prepaid plan is over. The telecom operator says that low-income prepaid customers are being identified through Average Revenue Per User (ARPU). Apart from this, Airtel also mentioned that in addition, the company will also give talk-time of Rs 10 to all 8 crore prepaid customers, to help all customers during the nationwide lockdown implemented by the government from last week.

Airtel said in its released statement that this will benefit the migrant workers and daily wage earners who are getting affected due to the COVID-19 nationwide lockdown. Apart from this, Airtel also said that other Airtel customers are recharging their accounts through online platforms.

With the help of Rs 10 talk time released by Airtel, customers will be able to make important messages and phone calls to their near and dear ones during this lockdown due to Corona virus. However, this extended validity and additional talk-time offer is available only for ‘Low Income’ prepaid customers.

When Gadgets 360 sought clarity on the criteria for selecting low-income customers, Airtel confirmed that it is selecting on the basis of low Average Revenue Per User (ARPU). However, the company did not clarify how much ARPU it is looking at to give the benefit of the offer.

Vodafone Idea has also followed Airtel’s path and extended the validity of its feature phone customers’ numbers till April 17.
