Space scientists have given information about the comet named C/2023 A3. BBC’s sky at night magazine According to scientists, this comet will be closest to the sun next year, which is called the perihelion point. Perihelion is the point when a celestial body or object reaches its closest point to the Sun. It is being said about this new comet that it will become very bright by going near the sun and its magnitude will be 7.0. It will reach its perihelion on 28 September 2024.

According to the report, this comet has been discovered by the Asteroid Terrestrial Last Alert System (ATLAS), which is a telescope stationed in South Africa. It has been discovered on 22 February 2023. At the same time, scientists at the Purple Mountain Observatory in China also saw it on January 9, 2023, due to which the word Tsuchinshan has also been added to its name. It was at a distance of 7.3 AU (Astronomical Units) from the Sun at the time of sighting.
After studying about the comet, scientists have told that this comet completes one round of the sun in 80,660 years. Talking about its position in March 2023, it has been said that it is currently between the orbits of Saturn and Jupiter planets. Regarding the time of coming close to the Earth, it has been said that it will pass through the closest to the Earth on 13 October 2024. Its speed has been stated as 2,90,664 kilometers per hour.
It has been said in the report that if the estimate proves correct, it can be clearly seen in the western sky of the Earth. There is also a strong possibility of formation of a long tail behind this. On October 13, 2024, when it will be passing between the Earth and the Sun, it will appear very bright. Recently, a green comet named C/2022 E3 (ZTF) was spotted in space. It passed near the Earth about 50 thousand years ago. This comet passed closest to the Earth on 1 February. C/2023 A3 is said to be even brighter.
