Apple Chief Tim Cook Meets Prime Minster Modi, Informs About Increasing Business in India

Tim Cook, Chief Executive Officer of the American company Apple, which makes the worldwide popular iPhone, held a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. In this meeting, Cook informed about the company’s plan to increase investment in the country. Cook’s visit to inaugurate Apple’s retail stores in India is a big sign of the company’s growing ambitions in the country.

Cook on Tuesday inaugurated the company’s first retail store in Mumbai. He was in the capital’s Saket on Thursday. Apple Was also present at the opening of K’s second store. Sharing a picture of him shaking hands with Prime Minister Modi, Cook wrote on Twitter: “We share your vision of the positive impact of technology on India’s future. We remain committed to growth and investment in the country.” In response, Modi tweeted that he was very happy to meet Cook.

In the last financial year, the export of mobile phones from the country has increased to $ 11.12 billion (about Rs 90,000 crore). Apple’s stake in this is about half. Apple’s Mumbai store is in the Mukesh Ambani-owned Jio World Drive Mall in the Branda Kurla Complex. The company has earlier been selling its products in the country through resellers or e-commerce websites like Amazon. Assembling of iPhones in India is done by Apple’s three contract manufacturers – Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron. The company also plans to start assembling iPad and AirPod in the country.

India is an important market for Apple. The company’s sales have reached a high level in the country. Apart from this, the company has also made preparations to increase the production of iPhone in India. Apple launched its first online store in the world’s second largest smartphone market about three years ago. In February, Apple overtook Xiaomi to become the second largest smartphone company in Asia. Asia is very important for smartphone companies as it has two big smartphone markets, India and China. There are a large number of companies selling smartphones in Asia.
