The company has lifted the ban from former US President Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. Meta has confirmed this by making an official announcement. Meta has also given the reason why his account was banned and with what conditions it has been restored. Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts were banned after the Capitol Hill riots on 6 January 2021. In a blog post, the company has said that new rules have been implemented to ensure that no controversial posts are posted again. According to a report in ANI, Donald Trump’s account will be restarted in the coming days.

His account was banned on 6 January 2021 after the attack on the US Parliament. He had made a post regarding the presidential election held in 2020 that there was a big rigging during the election. After this his supporters resorted to violence in the Parliament. Due to which he was accused of inciting violence through Facebook and the account was also banned. Apart from Facebook and Instagram, the microblogging site Twitter also banned his account. Donald Trump’s Twitter account was also recently restored.
After the Twitter account was banned, Donald Trump announced the launch of his own social media platform and still tweets on his own social media platform, Truth Social. Now Meta has also said that if this type of objectionable post is done again by Donald Trump, then his account can be banned from one month to 2 years.
