Many good phones have been launched in this price range in recent times. On the other hand, many older phones are still making strong claims. We have included only those phones in this list which have been launched in the last 6 months. Apart from this, the product has also been reviewed by us. Phones which have not been reviewed have not been made a part of this list. So what are you waiting for? These are the best smartphones available for less than Rs 20,000.
1) Lenovo Z2 Plus
Lenovo Z2 Plus has managed to be a part of our list. Credit for this goes to the 5-inch display, good build quality and premium hardware specifications. It is one of the first phones to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and is also priced under Rs 20,000. The Z2 Plus with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage doesn’t disappoint in terms of performance. Apart from this, the phone has a 3500 mAh battery which will easily last for a day.
The Lenovo Z2 Plus (Review) has a unique fingerprint sensor that can be used for multiple actions. These actions can also be customized. This phone disappoints in the camera department. If you want good picture quality, then Lenovo Z2 Plus is not made for you.
2) Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime
Through the Galaxy J7 Prime, South Korean electronics company Samsung has presented its claim in the premium mid-range smartphone race. It is a premium looking metal body phone. Due to the build, it gives a feeling of being more expensive than its price. The 5.5-inch LCD display is extremely bright and varied. Due to the Exynos processor and 3 GB RAM, there is no complaint with the performance either. In normal usage, the 3300mAh battery lasted for a day.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime (Review) comes with an ‘S Power Planning’ mode that comes with a host of unique features. There is a reserve mode for calls and text messages that is activated when a certain power is reached. Camera is satisfactory. The only drawback of the J7 Prime is the fingerprint sensor which sometimes doesn’t recognize fingerprints fast enough.
3) LeEco Le Max 2
The LeEco Le Max 2 was launched at a price of over Rs 20,000. However, there was a price cut during the festive season which is still in force. It is visually appealing. The performance of this phone with good build quality is also fast. The credit should go to the Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4GB of RAM. Apart from this, it is the only phone in this list to come with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display.
The 21MP camera has optical image stabilization and takes decent pictures under most conditions. The complaint is only in the software of the phone.
4) Gionee S6S
The Gionee S6S is a good option in the Rs 15,000-20,000 range. Its unibody design gives a solid feel and is easy to hold in hands. The full-HD IPS display is sharp and bright. Based on Android Marshmallow, the Amigo 3.2 user interface has some fun tricks, such as the iOS-like Control Center. Performance can be called satisfactory. Suitable quality pictures can be taken from the rear camera. Front camera has selfie flash. Backed by a 3150mAh battery, the phone easily lasts a whole day.
Other good phones in the range of Rs 20,000
Apart from the above phones, there are also selected handsets which we will not hesitate to suggest you to buy. The Asus Zenfone 3 Laser is a good choice because of its camera and display. However, it falls behind in terms of performance and battery life. It doesn’t justify its price. Vivo V3 Max is another option. Its performance is good and the same can be said about the battery life. However, it was launched more expensive. But the company recently reduced its price, after which it is available for less than Rs 20,000.
The Oppo F1s could also prove to be a good option, now that it is available for less than the launch price. We would appreciate it in the department of camera, battery life and general performance. However, it comes with an older Android version and charging is extremely slow at times. If battery life is everything for you, then buy the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus. However, you will be disappointed with its camera.
