Google’s policy head Archana Gulati resigns amid legal difficulties in India

Internet search company Google’s policy head in India Archana Gulati has resigned. He took over the post only a few months back. American tech company Google is awaiting the verdict of at least two antitrust cases in the country. Archana has previously worked with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government think tank.

Reuters did not give information about the reasons for Reuters’ resignation in the report citing two sources. Archana, a central government employee for many years, was joint secretary for digital communications at the government think tank, NITI Aayog, till March last year. Prior to this, she has also worked in CCI as a senior officer for two years. Big tech companies have hired many former central government officials. This helps them to meet the requirements of data and privacy regulations as well as competition law. Recently Google has been asked by the government to implement strict rules to stop the use of illegal lending apps. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology ((MeitY) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have directed Google to crack down on these apps. The RBI recently asked lenders to ban digital lending after rising fraud cases in the digital lending segment. Had asked to make strict rules for services.

Its purpose was to protect the borrowers from forgery. Google has changed its Store Developer Program policy for financial services apps. This includes additional terms and conditions for personal loan apps.
