Honor 9i First Impressions, what’s more special in Honor 9i with four cameras…

Honor 9i is the latest device in the under Rs 20,000 category in the Indian market. The phone has many features like four cameras and bezel-less FullVision display. The company is expanding rapidly in India and is offering handsets in every price segment. Honor 8 Pro is the smartphone under Rs 30,000 category. With the addition of Honor 9i to its portfolio, Huawei has tried to foray into a category dominated by brands such as Vivo, Oppo and Samsung. Know how we liked the Honor 9i the first time we used it.

With the 9i, Honor has given many things for the first time. First of all, let us tell you that this is the company’s first smartphone with 18: 9 fullview display. Apart from this, this is the first smartphone to be launched in India with two rear and two front cameras. But do these features really work? We got a chance to spend some time with the Honor 9i at the company’s launch event. Here’s a first look at how the device looked.

The device looks quite premium. Plus it feels strong and is stable too. The phone has 13 megapixel primary and 2 megapixel secondary camera on the front. While a 16-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor have been given on the rear. The camera on the rear is embossed and is in the centre. It looks like there’s a metal ring around the sensor but we’re excited to see how it will hold up during normal use.

The phone has a 5.9-inch display and the bezels are thin. Honor has chosen 18: 9 aspect ratio for the display keeping the current trend of the market. Due to this, the resolution of the screen has become FullHD + (1080×2160 pixels). On the bottom of the phone, there will be an old-style Micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack and loudspeaker. Honor 9i is powered by the company’s Kirin 659 processor, which is an octa-core. Apart from this, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB inbuilt storage is also provided. The Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto G5S Plus with the same price also come in the same RAM and storage variants. With the hybrid-dual SIM slot, the storage of this phone can be increased at the cost of not inserting a second SIM card.

Honor has given 3340 mAh battery in the phone, which is fine considering its thickness. We did not feel any heat in the short time we spent with the Honor 9i. However, we will give any decision regarding the battery life only after our detailed review.

Once you power on, you will get EMUI 5.1 skin on top of Android 7.0 Nougat. While the basic functionality of the OS remains the same, Honor has added some new features.

The phone also has multiple gestures and shortcuts for many tasks. Also, the higher resolution means that most apps will have to be stretched to use the full screen.

There is no doubt that the specialty of this smartphone is the cameras. With two cameras on either side, Honor claims that the company has used hardware rather than software to use the bokeh effect. Whereas most other manufacturers are using software. We will give our final verdict on this during our full review.

With a price tag of Rs 17,999, the phone seems to have decent hardware. With an 18:9 display and four cameras, the Honor 9i is a good option for buyers looking for new features. Stay connected with us for full review of the phone.
