For this, the ‘Sanchar Saathi’ portal was recently launched by the Department of Telecom, through which people across India will be able to block and track their lost or stolen mobile phones. At the same time, through this it will also be easy to check the mobile phones already used. People can find out whether the second hand device they are going to buy is stolen or not.

The portal has an option to block lost or stolen mobile phones as well as report mobile phones. In addition, users can also trace their lost or stolen phone using the IMEI number of the device. The good thing is that once the phone is blocked, no one will be able to use it and the network of any telecom operator across India will not work in it.

How to block lost or stolen mobile phone

• First of all visit Sanchar Saathi Portal (https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/) through any web browser on mobile or PC.
• Up here you’Citizen Centric ServicesClick on the ‘ tab, or scroll down to ‘Block your lost/stolen mobile‘ Select the option.
• If you want to block your mobile phone, click on the red ‘Block Stolen/Lost MobileClick on the option.
• Now a form will appear in front of you. Fill all the related information asked in it and verify any of your number through OTP.submit‘ button.

Note: Here you will get the mobile number of the lost or stolen phone (if there were 2 numbers, both), brand name of the phone, location of the lost or stolen phone, date of lost or stolen phone, police complaint and its number, phone owner name, Information like address, mobile number, any ID number etc. have to be filled carefully and correctly.

As soon as the form is submitted, the mobile phone will be completely blocked and no one will be able to use it again. Even if a person inserts a SIM in that phone, that SIM will not work in the phone.

How to unblock a lost or stolen mobile phone

Now if you get your mobile phone back, you will need to unblock it before you can use the SIM. To do this follow the steps given below.
