Jio has said that it is faster than its rival companies in terms of 5G rollout. Airtel has been able to launch its 5G service in just 30 cities as compared to Jio’s 101 cities. At the same time, VI i.e. Voda-Idea customers are still waiting for 5G to start.
According to Jio, Jio started the 5G rollout by launching True 5G in 4 cities on October 4, 2022, and in just 100 days its service has reached around 101 cities. These include metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata along with many small and big cities. Jio has also made its 5G network available at places of religious importance like Nathdwara, Mahakal Temple, Kamakhya Temple, Guruvayur, Tirupati.
On the occasion of 5G launch in the cities of Tamil Nadu, IT Minister Mano Thangaraj said that I am happy to launch Jio’s 5G services. Start-ups will get a big boost with the introduction of 5G services in the state. Especially those start-ups who are working on new technologies like Internet of Things, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Analytics.
On the launch, Jio spokesperson said that we are very excited to expand Jio True 5G to 6 more cities in Tamil Nadu. Soon Jio 5G network will be available all over Tamil Nadu. By December 2023, Jio’s true 5G services will be available in every village and every town in Tamil Nadu. Jio has invested over Rs 40,000 crore to set up 5G network in Tamil Nadu. This has provided direct and indirect employment to about 1 lakh people in Tamil Nadu.
