Provided by TRAI on MySpeed Portal latest data shows that Jio recorded a speed of 20.7Mbps in the month of May, a three percent increase from its 4G download speed of 20.1 Mbps in the month of April. However, Jio was beaten by Vodafone Idea in terms of upload speed. Vodafone Idea’s average 4G upload speed was 6.3 Mbps while Jio’s 4G upload speed was 4.2 Mbps. Vodafone Idea has gone ahead of Airtel in this matter. Airtel’s average 4G upload speed in the same month was 3.6 Mbps.
Vi ranked second in 4G download speed with an average download speed of 6.3 Mbps recorded in the month of May. Airtel, on the other hand, recorded an average download speed of 4.7 Mbps.
This is the first time TRAI has made data available for Vi since the merger of Vodafone and Idea in August 2018. The regulator had earlier recorded separate data for Vodafone and Idea on its MySpeed portal.
Importantly, the average speed records provided by TRAI are based on the data it collects on a real time basis across India through the MySpeed app. This means that you may see a difference between the data speed provided in the figures and the data speed you are getting on your device.
