Jio showed money power leaving Airtel and Vodafone Idea behind, bought spectrum worth Rs 57 thousand crore

The auction of 4G spectrum was launched by the Government of India on Monday, March 1, which went on till Tuesday. The reserve price of the auction was around Rs 4 lakh crore. Telecom Secretary Anshu Prakash said that 855.60 Mhz spectrum was bought for Rs 77,814.80 crore in the two-day auction. The bids during this period were for 800Mhz, 900Mhz, 1800Mhz, 2100Mhz and 2300Mhz bands. The special thing is that during this auction there was no bid for 700Mhz and 2500Mhz bands.

The 700Mhz band accounted for one-third of the total spectrum offered for auction. Please tell that no one bought this spectrum in the 2016 auction. NBT’s Report It says that experts believe that MHz bands are cheaper than GHz bands and do not require new equipment, so most telecom operators do not want to invest in new spectrum.

Jio won spectrum worth Rs 57,122.65 crore in the 2021 spectrum auction. On the other hand, in a statement issued by Bharti Airtel, it was told that in this auction the company acquired radiowaves worth Rs 18,699 crore. Vi (Vodafone Idea) spent Rs 1,993 crore in the auction. Airtel has achieved 355.45Mhz, mid band and 2300Mhz band. Now Airtel has the strongest spectrum. The company has also claimed that with this spectrum they can provide 5G connectivity in future.

The company has also said that due to the availability of spectrum in the Gigahertz sub-region, now its service will be better in the cities and the coverage will also increase. On the auction of 700Mhz, Airtel said that they did not bid for this band because this band is not useful for them economically. The reserve price of this band was also kept very high.
