today we lava pixel v2 Will review. Pixel V2 launched in September last year was introduced by the company as a mid-range camera smartphone. This smartphone has a 13-megapixel rear camera with front and rear flash. Know what shortcomings and features we saw in this phone in our Lava Pixel V2 review.
look and design
The Lava Pixel V2 is sharp, straight and simple to look at. The sides of the phone are strong and the phone looks like it is made of ceramic and metal body. However, a closer look reveals that the rear and sides of the phone are made of plastic but look more premium. The phone is not too bad to look at, but in our eyes, the phone looks a bit lacking.
The front of the phone is plain and the phone is difficult to hold. There is no convenient way to hold the phone and the speaker grille is also oddly placed in the phone. Pixel V2 is by no means bad to look at but it is not very beautiful either.
The phone houses the power and volume buttons on the right side while the USB port is on the bottom. 3.5mm jack is given at the top. The single speaker grille is placed just below the Lava logo on the rear. The camera and flash are placed on the top left corner of the rear. The SIM tray and microSD slot can be seen by removing the rear panel. The battery of the phone can also be seen but it is not removable.
Pixel V2 sports a 5-inch IPS-LCD panel with 720×1280 pixel resolution. The display is sharp but not too bright and detailed. Color reproduction and tone in the display is also not very good. Capacitive Android buttons are given at the bottom.
Specifications and software
Looking at the price of Lava Pixel V2 smartphone, its specifications can be called a little less. This phone is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor clocked at 1GHz and has 2GB of RAM. The 16 GB internal storage of the phone can be expanded up to 32 GB with the help of microSD card. The phone comes with dual SIM support and has a separate slot for two SIM cards and a microSIM card. Both the SIM slots support India’s 4G bands on Bharat 4G connectivity.
The V2 smartphone packs a 2500mAh non-user-removable lithium polymer battery. A 5 watt charger comes with the phone.
Pixel V2 runs on Android 5.1 on top of which Lava’s Star OS 2.0 layer has been given. It has a dual layered interface with the app drawer and lots of customization options for visual effects. Apart from wallpaper, you can change the general look and UI of the phone from icons to other effects through three themes. Along with this, the screen switch effect and home screen can also be changed for the app.
However, while setting up the phone as per your convenience, you will also find many problems in this device. The old menu button has been used instead of the task switcher in the phone. For this you have to long press on the home button. Replacing and removing the home screen of the phone is also not easy. Some of the quick launches in the phone work well but overall we found its software to be very simple.
Lava Pixel V2 has been introduced as a camera phone in the market. Its 13-megapixel camera equipped with dual LED flash has been claimed to bring great pictures. The phone also has an 8-megapixel secondary camera for selfie with flash. But maximum 720p video can be recorded from rear camera while maximum 480p video can be recorded from front camera.
The phone’s camera app is good and easy to use. You have two button process to record video. The camera switcher and flash are easily accessible along with other modes. By going to the settings menu, you can use options like manual setting and resolution control. There are also many modes like Panorama, HDR in the camera.
But the quality of pictures taken with the rear camera of the phone is average. The pictures are not as great as expected. Color and brightness in pictures can be called satisfactory. The detailing of the pictures taken from the phone of this price is also fine but cannot be called great. Photos taken indoors looked great. But those taken in daylight could have been better. Photos taken with the front camera are also fine for a phone of this price.
The MediaTek MT6735 processor given in Lava Pixel V2 sometimes works very slowly especially while working on multiple apps at the same time. The phone works well during light games and internet usage. Therefore, the performance of the phone is fine according to the price.
During the benchmark test, we got the same figures as the device running on this processor.
The phone comes with 4G support and works great on 4G and Wi-Fi. Call quality and sound quality with headphones is also good. The single speaker is small and weak. Battery life is decent and the battery lasted for 8 hours 11 minutes in our video loop test. At the same time, even during normal use, the phone’s battery drains quickly, especially (on 4G network) and it needs to be charged till evening.
Lava Pixel V2 is a simple smartphone at a low price. The look of the phone is not bad. It supports 4G and the camera is fine too. With the front flash, the camera can take different types of pictures by shooting in multiple modes.
However, this phone cannot be called completely perfect. With the phone’s average performance, poor battery life, average photo and video quality and outdated UI, the phone has many drawbacks. But if you are a normal smartphone user and want a good camera then Lava Pixel V2 is for you. However, for users who want a more powerful and specification phone, Yu Euphoria is a better option.
