To be honest, we were not surprised at all by the announcement that the company is launching the new product in the US before its domestic market. LeEco may make changes in the future after receiving feedback from US customers, but for the time being, the company will launch only its tested devices in the initial phase.
If you are in India or any other country where Le Max 2 ,review) is available to you LE Pro 3 Looks like a very familiar smartphone. In a way, everything is similar to the Le Max 2 except for a few changes. This phone has been made more beautiful than before and there are rounded edges on the front and back of the phone. There is a slight texture on the aluminum case to enhance the grip and the round home button has been replaced with a ‘LE’ logo.
The buttons are well placed and are easy to operate. The special thing is that it is very easy to use the phone with one hand. Like other phones launched recently by LeEco, the Le Pro 3 also lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead, you will get a USB Type-C adapter in the box so that you can use the regular earphones. This phone comes with the company’s CDLA standard support and the company will also include CDLA earphones in the box.
We liked the phone with 5.5 inch display in a short time. The screen resolution is Full HD with the least amount of scattering of images and text. This phone has a Snapdragon 821 processor which is currently the best processor in the market. The LE Pro 3 also has stereo speakers but both of them are placed at the bottom and hence they don’t provide a true stereo effect. This phone is available in 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variants only.
Le Pro 3 has been given the EUI 5.8 skin which is based on Android Marshmallow. The toggle switch offered in India has been introduced with a different design in the US. Other than that all other functions are the same. There are also streaming services like LeView and Live that allow users to get a list of live TV channels and videos from the web. The performance of this phone with a strong processor was very good. This device has 16 megapixel rear and 8 megapixel front camera.
It was difficult to judge the quality of the images at the launch event as everything looked good on the high-resolution display. The camera also has features like panorama, 4K video recording and slow-motion.
LeEco will start selling its flagship phone in the US from November 2 and will be available exclusively at the company’s LeMall store for $399 (approximately Rs 26,700). The price drops to $299 under the UP2U Rebate program, but it is still more expensive than the Le Max 2 smartphone. As far as the availability of this phone in India is concerned, the company has not given any information about it yet.
Le Pro 3 is a great Android smartphone at this price point. All things taken together, LeEco is initially trying to woo US customers for its content service. Phones are a very small part of the company’s many ambitious projects. We’ll soon find out how much Americans like an unknown company in a competitive and crowded market.
