Chaba said, “In India this figure is less than two per cent but it will continue to grow. The big turning point will be the penetration of electric vehicles reaching 10 per cent and more options for customers in the price range of around Rs 10 lakh. ”
MG Motor has started production of the Comet EV. This will be the smallest electric car in the country. It will compete with electric cars like Tata Motors’ Tiago EV. The company said that for safety, a solid steel frame has been used in it and it will come with airbags. It will get two 10.25 inch digital screens for the instrument console and infotainment system. This will be the company’s most affordable electric car in the country. It can get two driving modes, Normal and Sport. Its top speed is likely to be up to 100 kmph. The Comet EV is said to be a modified version of the Wuling Air EV, which is sold in Indonesia and a few other countries. The company has not disclosed the price of Comet EV.
Its sale can start from next month. It is a three-door, four-seat micro hatchback. It measures 2,974 mm in length, 1,505 mm in width and 1,631 mm in height. It has dual projector headlamps and charging port. The rear gets vertical taillights with an LED light bar. Its range can be up to 230 kilometers. Connected car technology will also be available in it.
