Other companies are launching smartphones equipped with high-resolution screen, top CPU, fingerprint sensor and metal body at very low cost. On the other hand, Micromax has introduced 4 GB RAM as its trump card. Almost all phones under Rs 10,000 category have only 2 GB RAM. Today we will review Micromax’s 4GB RAM Micromax Canvas 6 Pro and know whether this feature of Micromax makes the phone really special or proves the company wrong?
look and design
Canvas 6 Pro can be called the best looking phone of Micromax till date. Instead of the inferior material used in the company’s old product, good material has been used in this phone. There is a matte plastic shell on the rear and the sides don’t feel too premium. But the edges of the black glass front are convenient to hold the phone. Overall, the phone’s build looks good and you will look happy with this phone.
The front of the phone is tough but the on-screen buttons are a relief. On the front, the phone has Corning Gorilla Glass 3, front camera and notification LED. On the right side are the power and volume buttons. There is a micro-USB port on the bottom. There is a 3.5mm audio jack on the top.
The rear of the phone looks a lot like HTC’s older Windows Phone 8 model. The textured rear cover can be removed. At the top, there is a rear camera and flash in the middle. Below it is the newly designed logo of Micromax and the speaker grille at the bottom.
The battery can be detached from the phone by removing the rear cover. A microSD card and a nano-SIM and a micro-SIM card slot can be seen by removing the battery. When you buy Micromax Canvas 6 Pro, you will get a charger, cable, headset, screen protector and microfiber cloth in the box.
Specifications and software
Micromax has given 2 GHz MediaTek Helio X10 processor (MT6795M) in its new smartphone for less than Rs 15,000. Apart from this, this phone is in the headlines with 4 4 GB RAM. The phone has 16 GB of storage and can be expanded up to 64 GB via microSD card.
Micromax Canvas 6 Pro flaunts a 5.5-inch screen with 1080×1920 pixels resolution, which is decent for the price. The phone has 13 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera. The phone supports LTE in both the SIMs. For connectivity, the phone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.1 and USB-OTG. The phone has 3000 mAh battery.
This phone does not have features like fingerprint sensor, quick charging, infrared, NFC. Whereas other smartphones of this price now come with these features. It seems that the company is considering 4 GB RAM as a unique feature for the Canvas 6 Pro. Perhaps that is why the company has made some compromises as a second specification.
Talking about the software, there is a lot in the phone. The Canvas 6 Pro runs on Android 5.1 with a custom skin on it, which looks a lot like stock Android. All icons look different but not useless to look at. Swiftkey comes pre-installed and is set as the default keyboard. Apart from this, more than 20 apps like Clean Master, CM Security, CM Locker, Multiple Shopping Apps & Browsers and some trial games come pre-loaded. All apps are uninstallable except Micromax’s own App Center, M!Live and M!Account.
The most special is Micromax’s surround feature. First of all You Utopia ,reviewThis feature seen in ) is not like an app but is in the launcher itself. Swiping the homescreen to the left, you will be able to see the around screen. There are several category icons and search bar at the top while Google Now-style cards at the bottom.
Unlike other Micromax smartphones, the software of this phone does not cause much problems. While doing most of the work, there is no problem with the hardware of the phone. Although it is not the most powerful hardware ever, mid-range smartphones are also very powerful today. It cannot be said whether 4 GB RAM makes a big difference in the phone or not. But we didn’t have any problem with the phone and there was no problem in switching and opening various apps.
The screen is bright and crisp but the glass reflects a lot which at times looks very bad. The colors can be said to be good and the brightness is also good enough for use in daylight. Micromax Canvas 6 Pro gives good feel while using. But the phone camera gets a bit hot during use and gaming.
The performance of the phone in our benchmarking test was good. However, it cannot be called a flagship-killer. The battery lasted for 6 hours 41 minutes in our video loop test, which is disappointing by today’s standards. During normal use, we were able to run the phone for a whole day on a single charge. But if you play games, browse a lot and record videos, then you will need to charge the phone till evening.
The camera of the phone is not good at all. Even in good sunlight, the pictures come out without detailing and scattered. The pictures look completely fake and sometimes there is no focus at all, due to which the pictures are not even usable. Photos are blurry even at night and a lot of light is needed for good pictures. The front camera is fine for close-up selfies.
Micromax has introduced a brand new facelift with the Canvas 6 Pro. Canvas 6 Pro is the first phone in the line of smartphones that strengthens the company’s hold in the Indian smartphone market. This smartphone is completely different after the company’s first smartphone. Simply put, in this Micromax phone, everything has been changed in comparison to the material and texture. Thinking about Micromax users.
The performance of the phone is good but it cannot be called great. The phone has drawbacks like poor battery life and heat. Bad camera frustrates the most. Overall, Micromax has introduced 4 GB RAM as the specialty of the phone in the mid range. This feature will definitely attract the customers. Personally, we would have no problem buying a phone with 2GB of RAM with good battery life and other features.
