We spent some time with the new Oppo F7 at the launch event held in Mumbai. How did we like this mid-range smartphone at first glance, let’s know …
The Oppo F7 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage is available in bright Solar Red and Moonlight Silver color variants. Both the color variants have a back panel at the back. Glass is not provided. The rest of the body is plastic and the finish is good. We tried to make a few marks with the SIM ejection PIN to know whether scratches would occur or not. We found that if the phone is kept in a bag that has any sharp objects, then the phone can get scratched and break. Especially when you have not kept the phone in the cover. The phone feels light. There is a black border on the display, which makes it stand out from the rest of the phone.
Talking about the screen, Oppo F7 has a 6.23-inch display with 19: 9 aspect ratio. It is also Full HD Plus. Along with this, the user gets a screen guard already installed in the phone. Brightness levels are good and viewing angles are not bad either. However, we have to see how efficient the phone’s display is in open sunlight. There is no notification LED in this, as this feature is being given in most phones. It has a cut for the front camera and earphones. Button replacement is better but we were a little disappointed to see the micro-USB port. Looking at the price of the phone, we couldn’t understand why it was given.
Oppo F7 Solar Red Variant
We got only a single camera in the back, which does not allow to feel the lack of dual cameras. Despite this, the front and rear cameras of its phone support portrait mode. MediaTek Helio P60 octa core processor has been used in Oppo F7. The user will be given 64 GB storage with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage with 6 GB RAM. Let us know that the edition with more storage will be available in Solar Red color. At the same time, Diamond Black color option has been kept for 4 GB and 6 GB variants. The Diamond Black version has been enabled to give a diamond cut effect. However, it is the company’s ‘trick’ that will surely entice many. In terms of design, it is reminiscent of HTC, which used the 3D Surface with the HTC Diamond.
Within no time we tried the 4GB and 6GB versions of the handset. Both were working fast. ColorOS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo is good to see. However, we can’t say that we liked the feel and look of the app icons. Notifications can be easily viewed by swiping up with the toggle switch. Screen recording is provided with the OS itself. Whenever you are using videos or games in landscape mode, you can easily do things like screen recording and mute notifications by swiping left.
The most important aspect of the handset is the front camera, about which the company says that many AI features have been inserted in the new camera app. The Real Time HDR feature is working fine but after giving the command to the shutter button, it delays a bit. The new AI Beauty 2.0 claims to recognize 296 facial recognition points. Along with this, the neck and shoulders also remain in its sight. In this, like the rest of the phone, the back camera has been equipped with more megapixels. It has a wide aperture F / 1.8, which also includes the company’s promise of better photography in low light.
We didn’t spend much time with the Oppo F7 but it seems to have tried to offer a better phone than the Vivo V9 for Rs 1,000 less. Of all the three colors, we liked silver and black better. Oppo has patented many types of notches, so it is possible that different types of designs will be seen in the upcoming Oppo smartphone.
We will review the Oppo F7 in detail soon. Stay tuned with Gadgets 360 Hindi. We will also tell you how much better it is than Vivo V9?
