The initial handsets of Xiaomi’s new smartphone series are Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite. Both the handsets are in the Rs 10,000 price range and Xiaomi, like before, has given hardware features in these phones that make them better than their rivals. The first sale of Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite will be held on November 8 at 12 noon. Apart from this, it is also the first handset to come with the company’s MIUI 9 operating system. Redmi Y1 vs Redmi Y1 Lite specifications and features

The most important feature of Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is the 16 megapixel front camera. It is equipped with F / 2.0 aperture, 76.4 degree wide angle lens and LED selfie light. The front camera comes with 36 smart profiles. Apart from this, the beautification feature can also be used during video calls. It has face recognition technology and selfie countdown feature. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite sports a 5-megapixel sensor on the front. There is no LED flash with this camera and it is also not a wide angle lens. However, the aperture of the sensor is F/2.0, which means you can expect better low-light photography. Apart from this, facial recognition, real time beautification and selfie countdown features have also been made a part of the Lite model.

The Redmi Y1 Lite is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is powered by Snapdragon 435 processor. This phone has two variants based on RAM and storage – 3 GB RAM + 32 GB inbuilt storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB inbuilt storage.

Talk about the display, both handsets running MIUI 9 have 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display. They come with 1000: 1 contrast ratio and 450 nits brightness. However, the Lite model misses out on the 2.5D curved glass design on the front panel, while the powerful variant does. There is one more difference. The Lite variant weighs 150 grams and is 7.55mm thick. The weight of Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is 150 grams, but the thickness is 7.7 mm.

Both handsets have 13-megapixel rear camera sensors, which have aperture F / 2.2. These sensors come with phase detection autofocus and real time filters. The battery capacity is 3080mAh for both the phones, but the Redmi Y1 claims up to 35 hours of battery life and the Lite model claims up to 32 hours of battery life.
