realme 6 was launched earlier this year. I was very impressed by its price and performance. But its ‘value for money’ tag did not last long. Because after the change in the GST rates, the prices of the phones were increased. Now the company’s new offer realme 6i To a large extent, reminds us of the old price of Realme 6. Realme 6i can be considered a slightly weaker version of Realme 6 (Review). There are also many similarities between the two.
realme The design of the 6i is very similar to the Realme 6. The physical dimensions of both the phones are similar. But you will never be confused between the two phones. The Realme 6i only comes with a single tone finish known as Lunar White and Eclipse Black. There are many streaks on the back side. But they are visible only when the light bounces at the right angle. I came across the Eclipse Black unit which gets fingerprints easily. Realme has used a matte finish in the frame which gives a great feel in the hands.
Both the smartphones have a 6.5-inch display. The funny thing is that even in cheap handsets, the company has given 90Hz refresh rate. This is the only feature that separates the Realme 6i from the crowd. The selfie camera has got a place on the top left side of the screen. The company has used Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on this.
The Realme 6i also has a fingerprint sensor on the side, while the volume buttons are on the left side. There is no problem in their placement. There is no problem in reaching them even when using the phone with one hand. There are no complaints about the position of the fingerprint scanner as well and it unlocks the phone very quickly. The size of the display is such that there is no problem in using the phone with one hand.
The SIM tray is located on the left side, just above the volume buttons. It has three slots – two for nano SIM and one for microSD card. At the bottom, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, primary microphone, speaker and USB Type-C port. The thickness of the Realme 6i is 8.9mm and it packs a 4,300mAh battery like the Realme 6. However, it does not come with a 30W bundled charger like the Realme 6. You will get a 20W charger.
At the rear, there is a capsule-shaped camera module. Which has become the hallmark of realme smartphone. The setup is a bit bumpy, but the metal rim on the side will keep the camera lens safe. Realme 6i has 48 megapixel primary camera, 8 megapixel ultra wide angle camera, 2 megapixel portrait camera and 2 megapixel macro camera.
MediaTek Helio G90T processor has also been given in Realme 6. This is a very powerful processor. I liked its performance during the testing of Realme 6. Reality 6i will get 4 GB or 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage with Helio G90T. Storage can be expanded up to 256 GB via a separate microSD card slot. Realme has priced the initial variant of this phone at Rs 12,999 and the top model at Rs 14,999.
Realme 6i out of box comes with Realme UI 1.0 based on Android 10. In our review unit, the company has given the June security patch. Many unwanted apps were already present in the phone. I never felt any lag in the short time I spent with the smartphone. But we will discuss this in detail during the review.
In my opinion, Realme has launched Reality 6i in the market at the right time. It is very much like the Realme 6, which would be considered a feature. Specifications are a bit weak. But the price has also come down. Looks like the Realme 6i will appeal to those looking for performance on a budget. Should it be your first choice? For this stay tuned with Gadgets 360 Hindi. We will come soon with a detailed review of the Realme 6i.
