Realme C2 Design

Most budget smartphones are boring to look at. To keep the prices low and the performance good, handset makers usually do not give priority to the design. But this is not the case with the Realme C2 at all as it is an attractive smartphone. Like other smartphones in the budget segment, the Realme C2 is also made of plastic, but the finish on the back panel is unique.
realme Has used a geometric diamond-cut pattern on the back panel of the phone. You can check it out on our Diamond Blue review unit. The patterns emerge when there is light falling on the back of the phone which gives it a premium look. Due to the finish, fingerprints do not fall easily on the back panel.

There are two rear cameras with single-LED flash on the back of the phone. The Realme logo will be found at the bottom on the back panel of the phone. Realme C2 has a bigger display and the selfie camera has got a place in the waterdrop notch. Our review unit already has a screen protector mounted on it. We found that the curved frame on the Realme C2 makes the phone fit easily in the hand.

The power button has got a place on the right side of the phone, the hand is easily accessible to the button. On the other hand, the volume button is on the left side of the phone. The SIM tray is located right above the volume buttons.

There is a Micro-USB port, loudspeaker and primary microphone at the bottom of the Realme C2 while there is nothing on the top of the phone. To reduce the cost of the phone, like the Realme C1, the fingerprint sensor has not been given in the Realme C2 as well. We found that the build quality of the Realme C2 is good and there were no scratches on the phone during the review.

Realme C2 Specification and Software

Realme C2 is a budget phone and its specifications are not very impressive. This phone is equipped with Octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 processor. Its base variant has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. The price of Realme C2 starts at Rs 5,999. 2 GB RAM + 16 GB storage variant will be sold at this price.

The price of 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage model of the phone is Rs 7,999. We have 3 GB RAM variant of Reality C2. Realme C2 flaunts a 6.1-inch HD+ (720×1560 pixels) display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. There is a protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the handset. Its viewing angles are also good and the display remains quite bright in outdoors. You can also change the color temperature as per your preference.

A 4,000 mAh battery has been provided to power the Realme C2 and this phone comes with a 10-watt charger. It is a dual-SIM phone and has two nano-SIM slots. There is 4G as well as VoLTE support on both the SIMs. To increase the storage, Realme has also given a microSD card slot. For connectivity, Realme C2 includes FM radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth version 4.2, A-GPS and GLONASS.

Realme C2 runs on ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie. Our review unit is running on the March 2019 security patch. Some apps like Realme Community, Dailyhunt, Facebook, Newspoint, UC Browser, Amazon, ShareChat and PayTM will come pre-installed in the Realme C2. You can also uninstall them if you want.

Support for themes is also included and you can download them from the Theme Store app. App Market is another alternative to the Google Play Store and also comes pre-installed, but we found that it keeps sending spammy notifications throughout the day. The Realme C2 also has a Game Center app where you will only find games.

Like other Realme smartphones, the Realme C2 also comes with Driving and Riding Mode that automatically puts the phone in DND mode when connected to the car’s Bluetooth head unit. It can also auto-send SMS when you reject an incoming call. Gesture navigation is also available in Realme C2.

Realme C2 Performance, Battery Life and Cameras

The performance of Realme C2 is acceptable in this price segment, the MediaTek Helio P22 processor has been used in the phone. We didn’t face any issues while launching apps and scrolling through the menus, but when we dragged the notification panel down, the phone did get a bit slow.

We also tried multitasking on this phone but sometimes the phone takes a while to load heavy apps. Of course, the fingerprint sensor is not given in the phone but it is equipped with Face Unlock feature. This smartphone quickly unlocks the phone.

We played PUBG Mobile on low settings, graphics smooth and frame rate set to medium. The gameplay wasn’t smooth and it was a twitch. We changed the frame rate to low which did make a slight difference to the gameplay but it was still not smooth. A 4,000 mAh battery has been given to bring life to the Realme C2, the battery life of the phone is good.

The phone supported us for 20 hours and 29 minutes in our HD video loop test. We used WhatsApp on the phone, used Google Maps for navigation for two hours and ran some benchmarks. The charger that comes with the phone takes more than 2 hours to charge the battery.

Realme C2 has a dual rear camera setup. The primary sensor is 13 megapixels. Its aperture is F / 2.2. With this, a 2-megapixel sensor with F / 2.4 aperture will work in Jugalbandi. For selfie, the handset has a 5 megapixel sensor with F / 2.0 aperture. The camera app is similar to what we have seen in the previous Realme smartphone. It has buttons for HDR, Chroma Boost, Filter and Flash.

It also has Pano, Expert, Time-lapse and Slo-mo modes. The camera app offers 2x digital zoom support. Beautification mode has been given in the phone, with the help of which you can set the amount of beautification. We liked the pictures taken with the Realme C2 in daylight. The focus was good in the pictures and the details were also captured well.

Macro shots turned out better than we expected and the phone maintains a fair distance between the subject and the background. The phone locks focus quickly and there were no issues with exposure even when shooting in macro mode. The detail was captured well in the portrait shot. The pictures taken with the phone in low light were not particularly good. There was no sharpness in the phone and grains were visible on zooming in.

Detail was captured well in the selfie and the quality is also good for this price. The Realme C2 also has HDR support for the front camera. The rear camera is capable of producing 1080p resolution video while the selfie camera is capable of producing 720p resolution video.

our decision

Starting price of Rs 5,999 Realme C2 There’s also powerful hardware, good battery life, and up-to-date software. We have usually seen smartphones with weak processors and outdated software at this price point. Camera is one aspect of this phone that needs improvement but its quality is just right at this price.

If you buy the base variant of Realme C2, then tell that it can prove to be a profitable deal. If you are thinking of buying the 3GB RAM variant of the Realme C2 and if you can stretch your budget a bit, then redmi 7 either Nokia 5.1 Plus ,review) can also prove to be the best option for you. These smartphones are also available at the same price but if compared, they come with better hardware.
