Redmi Note 7 Review

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note-series has given a different look to the budget smartphone segment in India. In the price segment below Rs 15,000, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 5 Pro ,review) and now Redmi Note 7 Pro ,reviewThere have been some iconic smartphones that come with powerful processors. today we redmi note 7 Will review (Redmi Note 7). Recall that some time ago Redmi Note 7 was also launched along with Redmi Note 7 Pro in the Indian market. The starting price of Redmi Note 7 in India is Rs 9,999.

In Redmi Note 7, you will not get a 48-megapixel rear camera like Redmi Note 7 Pro, but still this phone will compete with other phones in this price segment. We have 4 GB RAM variant of Redmi Note 7 available for review, which costs Rs 11,999 in India.

Redmi Note 7 Design

redmi note 6 pro (Redmi Note 6 Pro) (reviewThere was nothing much different from the Redmi Note 5 Pro in appearance. But Xiaomi This time around, it has made a lot of changes in the design of its new Redmi Note 7-series. The Redmi Note 7 comes in three striking color variants. The glass back panel has been given in the back of Redmi Note 7, which is not seen in this price range.

Xiaomi has used Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back of the phone, which is quite impressive in this price range. Its sides are made of plastic but after holding the device in hand, it gives a premium look. P2i nano coating has been done on the body of Redmi Note 7, which means this phone of Xiaomi brand is splash-proof.

Redmi Note 7 is quite a big phone but still the grip is good when you hold the phone in hand. We have Ruby Red variant of Redmi Note 7 available for review. There is a glossy finish on its back panel. Redmi Note 7 is a bit heavy phone as it weighs 185 grams. But using the phone, you will not find it heavy at all. The power and volume buttons have got a place on the right side of the phone.

On the left side of the Redmi Note 7, there is a single tray in which you can put two nano-SIM or one nano-SIM and a microSD card if you want. The hybrid dual-SIM tray might leave you a bit disappointed, too, given that many of the recently launched phones in the same segment come with a dedicated microSD card slot. In our review unit, the SIM-tray didn’t seem to fit snugly into the body, which, according to us, was the only drawback in the design.

The 3.5mm headphone jack is placed at the top of the phone, while the USB Type-C port is placed at the bottom of the phone. It is good to see that Xiaomi is now finally offering USB Type-C connectivity in its budget segment phones.

There is an IR blaster at the top of the Redmi Note 7. With its help, you can control infrared home appliances through the Mi Remote app. Redmi Note 7 has a white notification LED at the bottom of the screen. The border around the 6.3-inch display is easily noticed, especially the dewdrop notch for the selfie camera.

The LCD panel comes with full-HD + resolution. For user convenience in daylight, the 6.3-inch screen comes with 450 nits brightness level and color reproduction is also good. Apart from this, you will also be able to control the contrast and color temperature, which is a good thing. Especially with this color variant, the glass back panel gives a striking look. The index finger easily reaches the capacitive fingerprint sensor. For the information of you people, let us tell you that the dual camera module is slightly protruding. The retail box comes with a transparent case, standard 10W power adapter, Type-C cable and SIM-eject tool.

Redmi Note 7 Specifications and Features

Snapdragon 660 processor has been given in Redmi Note 7. It has become common practice to have this chipset in the segment of Rs 15,000. It is not as powerful as the Snapdragon 675 processor given in the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The thing to note is that you are getting the Snapdragon 660 processor in the base variant of Redmi Note 7 for less than Rs 10,000, which is a big deal.

The price of 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage variant of Redmi Note 7 is Rs 9,999. We have 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variants for review and the price of this model is Rs 2,000 more, that is, this variant is available for Rs 11,999. Redmi Note 7 smartphone is equipped with dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 AC, Bluetooth version 5, three satellite navigation systems, FM radio, USB-OTG and many sensors.

Redmi Note 7 phone runs on MIUI 10.2 (MIUI 10.2) based on Android 9 Pie. The handset we have for review is running on the February 2019 Android security patch. The phone has many bloatware pre-installed. As soon as we set up the handset, the notification shade started showing ads and promotions from stock Xiaomi apps such as music and video players. However, there is also a way to fix it.

Most pre-installed third-party apps can and will not be uninstalled. For such apps, there is an option to disable spammy push notifications in the app settings page. After these changes, you will have a spam-free experience on Redmi Note 7 as before. Our Redmi Note 7 Pro (Redmi Note 7 Pro) review I told about MIUI 10 shortcuts and gestures.

Redmi Note 7 Performance, Camera and Battery Life

The Redmi Note 7 is equipped with better specifications, so it is not surprising that this phone handles all the tasks of the day with ease. The processor is powerful enough to handle social and productivity apps with ease, and it’s also good for gaming. There is no heating problem in Redmi Note 7. But of course when we play PUBG Mobile for some time then it gets hot. But the phone does not get so hot that you have to take a break for some time in between.

Redmi Note 7 is a big phone but MIUI has a one-handed mode. It can be activated with the help of swipe gesture on the home button. But sometimes it doesn’t even work properly. Fingerprint sensor works fast, apart from this the phone also comes with AI face recognition support. It works well in high light conditions and also has raise-to-wake gesture but it doesn’t work properly in low-light.

In our test, the Redmi Note 7 played back media files well. Video sharps and colors also looked impressive on the Redmi Note 7, though black levels could have been a bit better. This phone is Widevine L1 certified, which means you can stream TV shows and movies from Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

The sound comes out loud from the single speaker grille. The speaker is at the bottom of the phone but it has got a place on the right side, due to which the speaker does not block even after holding the phone in landscape mode. Unlike the Redmi Note 7 Pro, the 48-megapixel primary sensor is not given in the Redmi Note 7. The rear side of the Redmi Note 7 has a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The aperture of the main lens is f/2.2, so better low-light shots are not expected to be clicked.

Along with AI scene detection feature in the camera app, shooting modes like Panorama, Portrait, Pro and Square will be available. Redmi Note 7 captures good pictures in daylight. Colors and details were captured well but we lacked a bit of sharpness. Chromatic aberrations were visible with bright backgrounds, and HDR doesn’t always handle exposure to bright areas.

The camera app AI system accurately detects buildings, plants, flowers, etc. On macro mode, the camera AI boosts the colors, due to which the subject looks artificial. Turn it off before you take the shot. The depth sensor helps in taking good portrait shots. Edge detection for objects and people is also good. Low-light performance is good but not the best. Colors in sufficient light and details in landscape mode were also captured well. The device received a system update during the review. With the update, a new night shooting mode has been added to the Redmi Note 7.

The 13-megapixel front camera takes good selfies when there is enough light. The AI beautification is not too aggressive. If you want, you can also shoot selfies with the bokef effect and the edge detection is not bad either. Selfie came well even in low-light. Video quality is not particularly impressive. Bright areas tend to be overexposed when shooting in daylight.

Electronic stabilization is applied when you end recording, so you won’t be able to preview how your video will sound while you shoot. There is no 4K option in the phone, you will get 1080p, 60 frames per second mode. Apart from this, you will also get shooting modes like time lapse and slow-motion which work well.

A 4,000 mAh battery has been given to bring life to the Redmi Note 7 and this phone comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4 fast charging but only when you use the right charger. You will get a standard 10W charger in the retail box. The phone was able to charge up to 57 percent in an hour with the charger that came with the phone. The battery life of the phone is good. In our HD video battery loop test, the Redmi Note 7 provided 12 hours and 52 minutes of backup. It is worth noting here that 4,000 mAh battery has also been given in Redmi Note 7 Pro but this phone lasted for 19 hours.

our decision

The price of the base variant of Redmi Note 7 is Rs 9,999, we have not tested this variant. The look of the phone is quite good and its build quality is also good. The phone has a good display, decent camera, strong app performance and good battery life. If you have to use two SIMs and a microSD card simultaneously, then this phone is not for you as the hybrid dual-SIM slot has been given in Redmi Note 7.

if you want Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 (Can also consider the base variant of Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2). Its base variant is available online for less than Rs 10,000. The Redmi Note 7 comes with pre-installed bloatware, below average low-light camera performance, and you won’t even find a fast charger in the retail box.

We have tested the 4 GB RAM variant of Redmi Note 7 which costs Rs 11,999. If you want to get a phone with better camera performance then we think realme 2 pro (Realme 2 Pro) (review) either Xiaomi Mi A2 ,review) can prove to be the best option for you. There are many good and powerful smartphones available in India under Rs 15,000 and Redmi Note 7 is one of them.
