There is good news for Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. The contribution of both in the increased customers is said to be 2.9 lakh. While a decline of 2.8 lakh has been registered from BSNL and Vodafone Idea (VIL). TRAI’s Report It has been said that the percentage of increase in the number of subscribers from December 2022 to the end of January 2023 was only 0.03. There has been an increase in fixed line connections from 2.45 crore in December 2022 to 2.73 crore in January.
Reliance Jio was at the forefront of the wireline segment, with an increase of 2.1 lakh customers. Bharti Airtel was on the second number here, whose subscribers have increased by 1.1 lakh. On the other hand, there has been an increase of 5,949 in the customers of Quadrant. The worst hit was Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), which lost 29,857 subscribers during the said period. After that BSNL also suffered a loss of 19,781 users. Tata Teleservices lost 9,444 users while VIL lost 3,727 and Reliance Communications lost 275 customers.
In terms of mobile subscribers, the biggest gainer was Reliance Jio which added 16.5 lakh customers while Bharti Airtel added 12.8 lakh customers. Here BSNL, VIL and MTNL have lost 14.8 lakh, 13.5 lakh and 2,960 customers respectively.
