Telecom regulator TRAI has directed telecom companies to improve the quality of service in view of the increasing number of complaints like call drops. TRAI has also asked telecom companies to use artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to deal with the issue of spam calls and messages. This tool is effective in catching and blocking spam from unregistered telemarketers. TRAI officials reviewed quality of service issues, norms for 5G service and the issue of spam calls and messages in a meeting held last week with senior executives of Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea. Telecom companies have been told that strict norms are being made for quality of service parameters. In this regard, a process of consultation will be started by TRAI in the coming months.
