Samsung Galaxy M53 5G The price in India starts from Rs.26,499. It comes in its 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. The latter variant comes in 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, which costs Rs 28,499. I had the Mystic Green color unit of it. It also comes in Deep Ocean Blue colour.
Design of Samsung Galaxy M53 5G
The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is made primarily of plastic and feels sturdy, but doesn’t feel too premium. In the first impression, I praised its Mystic Green finish. I still retain it as it helps it stand out from the competition. After using it for a week, I found that it does remove stains easily, though they are not very visible. Being the most expensive device of the M series, the company should have also given a rear case in the box with it.
Accessories missing from the box include a charger. Only USB Type-C to Type-C cable is available in the box. If you have a USB Type C charger, you can charge the device with that. For fast charging, you will need a 25W charger. Samsung’s official charger is available for Rs.1200.
The side mounted fingerprint scanner of the phone is easy to reach, but not so with the volume buttons. Due to being large, it is a bit difficult to use the device with one hand. It has a large 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, as Galaxy M52 5G was also given in The weight of the phone is 176 grams, which according to me can be easily handled.
Specifications and software of Samsung Galaxy M53 5G
MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC has been given in Samsung Galaxy M53 5G. It also has a vapor cooling chamber which keeps the temperature of the phone under control. With dual sim support, 12 5G bands have been given in it and there is also support for 4G VoLTE. The company has given auto data switch feature in it. With this, when the data of one SIM is stopped, the phone automatically switches to the data of the other SIM so that the data connection is maintained in the phone at all times.
Hybrid SIM tray has been given in this latest phone of Samsung. I think the company should have come out with another variant with more storage. Through the RAM Plus feature, you can use a small part of the storage as RAM. In my 6GB variant, I also had the flexibility to use 6GB of space as RAM from the storage. This comes in handy when you are multitasking.

The phone’s Super AMOLED Plus panel comes with full-HD Plus resolution and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. only some smartphones like Xiaomi Mi 11i HyperCharge 5G, Mi 11i And realme gt master edition Come with high refresh rate AMOLED display at this price. In this, the screen refresh rate was set at 120Hz by default. In the display settings, there is an option to choose between Vivid and Natural color mode. With this, the color temperature of the panel can be changed.
On the software front, the phone runs Android 12 out-of-the-box with Samsung’s OneUI 4.1 skin on top. The company has promised two years of Android OS updates and four years of security updates for the Galaxy M53 5G. OneUI is easy to use but along with it many third party bloatware are also given in it. You can uninstall most of these apps. Similar to Apple’s Continuity feature, you can copy and transfer text and images to other Samsung devices. But for that same Samsung account must be signed in on all the devices. The phone also has some experimental features which include Multi Window, with the help of which you can run multiple apps in resizable pop up windows.
Samsung Galaxy M53 5G performance and battery life
The performance of Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is quite good for a common user. Its Super AMOLED crisp display has good viewing angles and there are many options for customization as well. Dolby Atmos is supported in the single speaker. Experience would have been better if there were dual speakers.
Daily use needs are met smoothly in Samsung Galaxy M53 5G. Apps and games load quickly and multitasking is smooth. The side mounted fingerprint scanner is quite accurate and there is little chance of a second attempt to unlock the phone. The 120Hz refresh rate also makes the UI feel super smooth.

The gaming performance of the phone is quite good. In this, Asphalt 9: Legends ran very well at 60Hz and there was no lag. After 15 minutes of gaming, the battery dropped to 3 percent, which is normal. The phone did not feel hot.
Talking about the benchmark scores, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G scored 424,426 points on AnTuTu. In Geekbench 5’s single-core and multi-core tests, it scored 731 and 2,264 points, respectively. These scores were lower than Realme GT Master Edition and Xiaomi Mi 11i HyperCharge 5G, which are cheaper at the starting price and come with better specifications.
The battery life of the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is impressive. Its 5,000mAh battery lasts more than a day. The phone ran for 18 hours 24 minutes in the HD video loop test. No charger was given with the phone, so I used the USB Type-C charger of MacBook Air (2020). The phone also showed fast charging, but it was hard to tell if it was charging at its full 25W capacity. The phone was charged 31 percent in half an hour and 58 percent in an hour.
Samsung Galaxy M53 5G cameras
Quad camera setup has been given in Samsung Galaxy M53 5G. It has a primary camera of 108 megapixels, along with an 8 megapixel ultrawide angle camera, a 2 megapixel macro camera and a 2 megapixel depth sensor. In comparison, Xiaomi Mi 11i HyperCharge 5G also comes with the same camera setup.

The phone is very quick to focus and takes the right exposure. Close shots are also very impressive. However, portrait shots require some patience as it takes some time. Day-light shots of the phone are quite good and the details come out well. The tone of the primary camera is also found in the photos of the ultraviolet camera, which is a good thing. But there is a lack of details in this. Barrel distortion is very less visible in ultra wide photos.

The macro camera captures decent photos and I was able to get very close to the subject while shooting. Its low-light camera performance is quite good. However, there was a lack of detail in the dark areas of landscape shots. Night mode showed slight improvement but the phone was taking 3 to 4 seconds to capture a photo. Sometimes good photos were coming in it and sometimes soft results were being received. That’s why nothing can be said for sure about it.

The phone’s 32-megapixel selfie camera captures 8-megapixel photos by default. Selfies taken during the day time look quite good. Colors are found natural. Edge detection is good in portrait shots. The low-light performance of the selfie camera is average.
Talking about video recording, it can shoot 4K videos at 30fps. The phone relies on EIS for footage stabilization. The colors in the video look very good in daylight but the video seems to be shaking. In low-light footage, there is a lot of disturbance in my opinion. There’s also a Super Steady mode in the camera app, but it crops the frame heavily to bring about stabilization and limits the resolution to 1080p.
Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is a decent upgrade to the Galaxy M52 5G. The phone looks premium and the hardware is solid. One thing that goes in the phone’s favor is that it promises Android OS and security updates, so that it can compete with rivals in the long run. In my view, its 6GB RAM variant proves to be more value for money. I also feel that Samsung should have bundled a 25W charger with it for the price.
If the Galaxy M53 5G still doesn’t suit you, then you can look at the Xiaomi Mi 11i HyperCharge 5G which is a much better alternative. In this you get more powerful Dimensity 920 SoC chipset and 120W charger is available in the box itself. Those looking for a good camera phone can check out Realme 9 Pro+. If your budget does not allow then Mi 11i and Realme GT Master Edition can also be options.
