This approach has only two criteria. To start this invention, there must be a pair of supermassive black holes. This pair should be on each other’s side. At the point when one black hole passes in front of another, one should be able to see a bright flash of light. This study in Physical Review D Journal published happened.
Post-doctoral fellow at the Flatiron Institute’s Center for Computational Astrophysics at Columbia and first author of the study Said That high-resolution image of the M87 black hole is a process of many years, requiring the efforts of dozens of scientists. They say that this trick only works for large and nearby black holes, such as the M87 black hole. This could possibly work for our galaxy as well. If the astronomers’ efforts are successful, this experiment could be used to confirm 150 or more supermassive black hole pairs that have been discovered so far.
Recently MIT researchers have detected 8 new echo black hole binaries in our galaxy ‘Milky Way’. Till now there was information about only 2 such black holes. Echo black hole binaries are systems that orbit a star. Using a new automated search tool called the ‘Reverberation Machine’, the researchers looked for flashes and echoes from nearby black hole X-ray binaries. This research was also supported by the American space agency NASA.
