Sony’s camera has been used in iPhone for years, Apple reveals

American smartphone company Apple has admitted that the company has been using Sony’s camera sensors in iPhones for more than a decade. This disclosure made by Apple regarding its devices is surprising. The specifications of the company’s iPhone models usually only contain camera resolution, aperture and other general information.

For many years there was speculation that iphone Sony is providing camera sensors for. The iPhone 15 is also likely to feature Sony’s state-of-the-art image sensor. Cook revealed in a tweet on Tuesday that Japanese electronics company Sony has been providing camera sensors for the iPhone for more than a decade. The tweet also included a photo of Cook in Japan with Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida. Apple’s disclosure has put an end to speculation about Sony’s camera being used in the iPhone.

A report late last month said that Sony’s state-of-the-art image sensor could be used in the next series of iPhones. Speculations are rife about various specifications of the iPhone 15 series to be launched next year. However, Sony has not started production of this sensor. It can be made at the company’s Nagasaki plant in Japan. Sony has invested heavily in image sensors to capture about 60 percent of the complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor market over the next three years.

This image sensor will have the ability to double the saturation signal level in each signal compared to existing sensors. Last year, Sony had a market share of about 44 percent in the CMOS image sensor market. In second place was Samsung with a share of around 18.5 percent. Last week, another report said that the frame of the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro could be made of titanium. This material is more expensive than stainless steel. Stainless steel has been used in Apple’s recent Pro models. In the next series of iPhone, the company can include solid state buttons as well as three taptic engines.
