Telly announced the launch of its first TV on Monday and also told that the startup had been working on this TV for almost two years. This includes a dual-screen setup and a soundbar. One of the two screens is the main screen, where you will see your main content, while the smaller screen will serve as secondary information like ads, news, weather updates, sports scores. Which means that now multi-tasking is going to happen in TV as well.

Telly has introduced a unique business model with this dual-screen television, under which, according to the company, it can be used free of cost. However, keep in mind that instead of giving you free TV, the company will show you advertisements. A Telly executive told The Verge told That the ads will not interrupt whatever is playing on the main screen of the TV. Instead ads will play on the bottom screen.
He further added that “when you’re not using the TV, ads can use both displays”. In addition, Telly is also working on “Tell Rewards”, which will allow users to participate in things like on-screen polls. Will give away a reward card for a service like Netflix or Starbucks to participate.
Another thing to note is that according to The Verge, Telly’s privacy policy states that “the company may collect information about the audio or video that users watch, or details about the time that users watch TV. Even in these The information includes things like what you searched for, what buttons you pressed or the physical presence of the person using the TV.”
Now, if someone opts out of the data collection option or turns it off, then that person will either have to return the TV or pay for the soundbar setup with the dual-screen TV.
The main screen on the Telly TV is 55-inch in size, equipped with a 4K HDR panel, while there is a smaller 10-inch display at the bottom. There is also a built-in premium sound bar for an immersive audio experience. It has three HDMI inputs, two USB ports, and a tuner for watching over-the-air broadcasts. It also has a camera near the soundbar, which supports the “free advanced motion-tracking fitness program”. Zoom is also supported in this. The company says that the TV comes with a privacy shutter.
It runs on TellyOS, which currently doesn’t support apps like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. But, the company is offering a free 4K Android TV stick with it, so that users can enjoy the streaming service.
Its pre-orders have started in the US and Telly has not yet shared any official information regarding its launch in other markets including India.
