As electric car sales increase in California, industry insiders have feared an energy crisis.

During California's heat wave this weekend, electric car owners are urged not to charge their vehicles.

South-west California is expected to experience temperatures between 35 and 38 degrees celsius during Labor Day.

Power outages may occur between 4pm and 9pm when electric cars are being charged.

Over 563,000 electric vehicles are registered in California, according to the US Department of Energy.

The US Government legislated an electric car rebate of $7500 in its climate and energy bill.

Electric car batteries must be made with 40 percent North American materials starting in 2024.

The percentage will grow by ten percent every year until 2030 when it reaches 100 percent.
