what’s the difference, how redmi 5 plus is different from xiaomi redmi 5

Chinese company Xiaomi on Thursday launched its two new smartphones Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in Beijing. The design and some specifications of both these smartphones are similar. But there is some important difference between these two phones from screen size to processor. The company recently launched its budget phone Redmi 5A. And going by the company’s strategy, it is almost certain that both the new Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus will be launched in India soon. Let us know what are the important differences between these two devices of Redmi.

display
Coming to the display first, there is a slight difference in the screen size of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. The Redmi 5 sports a 5.7-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) 18:9 display. The density of the screen is 282 PPI. Corning Gorilla Glass has been given for protection on the screen. While the Redmi 5 Plus sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) 18:9 display. The density of the screen is 403 PPI.

processor
The Redmi 5 is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor while the Redmi 5 Plus is powered by a 2.0GHz octa-core Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 processor.

RAM and Storage
Talk about RAM and inbuilt storage, Redmi 5 has 2 GB RAM and 3 GB RAM. While Redmi 5 Plus will get 3 GB RAM and 4 GB storage options. Talking about storage, Xiaomi Redmi 5 will get 16 GB or 32 GB storage option. Apart from this, the storage can be increased through microSD card. Redmi 5 Plus gets 32 GB or 64 GB inbuilt storage and also has expandable support.

Battery
To power the Redmi 5, there is a 3300mAh battery while the Redmi 5 Plus packs a 4000mAh battery. The dimensions of the Redmi 5 are 151.8×72.8×7.7mm and weigh 157 grams, while the Redmi 5 Plus measures 158.5×75.45×8.05mm and weighs 180 grams.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is priced at CNY 799 (roughly Rs. 7,800) for the 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage variant, while the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant costs CNY 899 (roughly Rs. 8,800). Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus’s 3 GB RAM / 32 GB storage will be available in 999 Chinese Yuan (about Rs 9,700) while the 4 GB RAM / 64 GB storage variant will be available in 1,299 Chinese Yuan (about Rs 12,700). Both the handsets will go on sale in China from December 12 and registrations will start soon. Xiaomi says that with these smartphones, a cover will be available free of cost in the box.
