Being smaller, it is easier to reach the fingerprint sensor on the Redmi 5, whereas you will have to stretch your fingers a bit on the Redmi Note 5.

If you look at the specification, you will find that there are many differences in terms of hardware. The reliable Snapdragon 635 processor has been used in the Redmi Note 5. It has two variants – 32 GB storage with 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage with 4 GB RAM. On the other hand, Snapdragon 450 processor has been used in Redmi 5. You have the option to choose between 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage, 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage.
You will get the same software experience in both the phones. Both handsets work on MIUI 9.2 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Choose any phone in both, the user interface experience will be the same. However, we did notice a difference in the performance of both the phones. Whether it’s loading apps or navigating through menus, the Redmi Note 5 is faster than the Redmi 5. The difference is not much. But after using both the phones side by side and using them simultaneously, you will get the same feeling.
Talking about battery life, the difference is huge. The bigger body goes in favor of the Redmi Note 5. This phone has 4000 mAh battery. Whereas, Redmi 5 comes with 3300 mAh battery. The difference is also clear. In our video loop test, the Redmi Note 5 battery lasted 15 hours 10 minutes, while the Redmi 5 died in 13 hours 36 minutes.
If you are in a state of confusion about both the phones, then consider these things. Both the phones are as beautiful as each other and there is no difference in the software either. A faster processor, a bigger, better and higher resolution screen, and a powerful battery work in favor of the Redmi Note 5. Considering that the price difference between the two phones for the same variant is only Rs 1,000, the Redmi Note 5 wins. Well, everything depends on your budget.
