Presenting the Union Budget 2022 on Tuesday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the spectrum auction required for 5G telecom network will be held in 2022. Venu Cherian, Chief Financial Officer, Sennheiser India, said that the arrival of 5G networks in the country will benefit smartphones as well as other sectors including media and entertainment. Cherian further said that ‘with the announcement of 5G spectrum auction to be held this year and rapid expansion of 5G mobile service, we will see growth in content consumption, which will give a lot of growth to the audio accessories industry.’ He also said that 5G network with lower latency and higher bandwidth will bring a new experience for wireless audio transmission of music.

Foxconn-owned electronics manufacturing services (EMS) firm Bharat FIH believes that the announcement of the auction of 5G spectrum will increase the demand for 5G smartphones in the country. Bharat FIH Managing Director Josh Folger said that ‘this announcement of the government will enable more users to be included in the next level of digital economy.’
